Web search and page reading for Cursor

Add Clawifi to Cursor and its agent can search the web, read docs pages and PDFs, and bring back the passages that answer the question, each with its source, while it edits your code.

Add to CursorInstall in VS Code

No key needed to try: 4 tools, 50 calls a day per address. Add your API key for the full toolset. Get a free API key or read the remote MCP docs.

What Clawifi gives Cursor#

Cursor’s agent edits code with what it knows. With Clawifi it can read the current docs for an API before it writes the call, check a migration guide, or pull the exact passage from a spec into its answer.

  • Search: search_free searches many engines as one and returns ranked results with their sources.
  • Read: fetch_url and scrape_url read pages and PDFs as Markdown; with a query, scrape_url returns only the passages that answer it.
  • Parse and discover: extract_url pulls structured fields from a page; map_site lists a site’s URLs; start_crawl and get_crawl read several pages.
  • Jobs, history and monitors: create_job, get_job, list_history and list_monitors for longer runs and scheduled checks.
  • Cost first: estimate prices a call before it runs, and the account tools show your credits.

Set it up#

  1. 1. Get an API key

    Create an account at clawifi.dev/signup. The Free plan includes 1,000 credits a month. Copy the key the console shows you (it is shown once) and keep it in an environment variable, CLAWIFI_API_KEY.

  2. 2. Add the hosted server

    Use the Add to Cursor button above, or paste this into ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or the project’s .cursor/mcp.json). Cursor reads CLAWIFI_API_KEY from your environment.

    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "clawifi": {
          "url": "https://api.clawifi.dev/mcp",
          "headers": {
            "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:CLAWIFI_API_KEY}"
          }
        }
      }
    }
  3. 3. Or run it locally

    Install the package, then use this block instead. Cursor starts clawifi-mcp itself.

    pip install clawifi
  4. 4. Ask the agent

    Open the agent and ask something that needs the web, naming Clawifi if you want the agent to use it.

Questions#

How do I add Clawifi to Cursor?

Use the Add to Cursor button on this page, or put the hosted server in ~/.cursor/mcp.json with "url": "https://api.clawifi.dev/mcp" and an Authorization: Bearer header that reads CLAWIFI_API_KEY from your environment.

Does the Add to Cursor button need a key?

No. It adds the hosted server without one, and 4 tools work as a trial: 50 calls a day per address. Add your key to the header for the full toolset.

Can I use it in a single project only?

Yes. Put the same block in the project’s .cursor/mcp.json instead of the one in your home folder.

What does it cost?

Most calls cost 1 credit and a browser render 3. Cache hits and failures on Clawifi’s side cost 0; a page whose site answers with an error (such as a 404) is charged as usual. The Free plan includes 1,000 credits a month. See Pricing.
