Start
Quickstart
Get a key, install, add Clawifi to your client and make the first call. Or paste the prompt below into your agent and let it do the steps.
Set up Clawifi for me. Run pip install clawifi (Python 3.11 or newer), add the MCP server to this client with my key (for Claude Code: claude mcp add clawifi -e CLAWIFI_API_KEY=your_key -- clawifi-mcp), then check it with CLAWIFI_API_KEY=my_key clawifi quicktest --url https://example.com. The steps are at https://clawifi.dev/docs/quickstart.md
Install in your client#
claude mcp add clawifi -e CLAWIFI_API_KEY=your_key -- clawifi-mcp

# or add the remote server https://api.clawifi.dev/mcp in VS Code's MCP settings
codex mcp add clawifi --env CLAWIFI_API_KEY=your_key -- clawifi-mcp
claude mcp add --transport http clawifi https://api.clawifi.dev/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $CLAWIFI_API_KEY"
No key needed to try: 4 tools, 50 calls a day per address. Add your API key for the full toolset. Get a free API key.
Four steps#
1. Get a key
Create an account at /signup. The Free plan includes 1,000 credits a month. Verify your email, then copy the API key the console shows you. It is shown once.
https://clawifi.dev/signup2. Install
One package installs the MCP server (clawifi-mcp) and the CLI. It needs Python 3.11 or newer.
pip install clawifi3. Add to your client
Add Clawifi to your agent with your key. Choose your client below; each line is all it needs.
The lines for every client are in the install card above and on Clients.
4. First call
Ask your agent to search or read a page (for example "search the web for the Model Context Protocol spec"), or check the key from a terminal first.
CLAWIFI_API_KEY=your_key clawifi quicktest --url https://example.com
A first call#
The same search three ways. The response below is a real playground run, recorded on 20 Oct 2026 and trimmed to two results.
curl https://api.clawifi.dev/search/free \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $CLAWIFI_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"query": "what is the Model Context Protocol"}'
from clawifi import Clawifi
client = Clawifi() # reads CLAWIFI_API_KEY
hits = client.search_free("what is the Model Context Protocol")
search_free(query="what is the Model Context Protocol")
